Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth at Brooklyn Invitational

Bronx, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s cross country team finished fifth of nine teams at the Brooklyn College Invitational on Sunday morning with a total of 118 points. The host Bridges won the invitational with 61 points in John Jay’s final tune up at Van Cortlandt Park before the conference championship on Oct. 25.

Crystal Ferguson (Brooklyn, NY, Greater New York Academy) was John Jay’s top finisher. She was 19th overall (30:44) of 77 runners. Fellow teammate Anna Garlinska (Ozone Park, NY, Christ the King)was right behind her as she was 20th overall and second on John Jay (30:50).

Baljit Kahlon (Queens Village, NY, Bryant) was third on the Bloodhounds and 22nd overall (31:01), while Anastasia Leshchinskaya (Redding, CT, Joel Barlow) was the fourth Bloodhound to cross the finish line and 31st overall (32:15).

Jessica Toro (Manhasset, NY, Manhasset) rounded out the top five for John Jay and was 44th overall (34:03).

Other CUNYAC schools in at the Brooklyn Invitational were York College (3rd) and the City College of New York (9th).
