Men's Soccer Loses to NYU in 2009 Season Finale

Maspeth, N.Y.— The John Jay men’s soccer team wrapped up its 2009 season with a loss at home as the Bloodhounds were defeated by New York University (NYU) at the Metropolitan Oval on Saturday afternoon. 

The loss leaves John Jay at 2-14-2 overall and a tenth place finish in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) standings with a 1-6-2 showing. 

On Saturday the visiting Violets got two goals from Brandon Hintz and one each from Ronny Scardino, Adam Fein and Michael Burke. 

NYU got the scoring started in the 32nd minute when Scardino put one past starting goalkeeper Chris Adao at 31:01. Less than a minute later Fein landed one in from the near sideline that gave the Violets a two goal lead with 31:51 gone by. 

Hintz added his first of two goals of the game with a strike at the 37:08 marker as NYU went into halftime up 3-0. 

NYU got another goal from Hintz at the 62:17 marker before Burke’s goal at 79:28 gave the Violets a 5-0 decision. 

John Jay registered five shots in the contest, including two in the first half and three in the final forty-five minutes. Anthony Lozada blasted three shots, including the Bloodhounds’ only two shots on net.
Adao started in net and played the first half while making two saves. Kemar Brown played the second half in net and made six saves for John Jay.
