Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth of Nine at CUNYAC Championship

Bronx, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s cross country team finished fifth on nine teams at the 2009 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) women’s cross country championship on Sunday morning, finishing with a total score of 134.

Baruch College won the event with 52 total points.

For the Bloodhounds, Anna Garlinska (Ozone Park, NY, Christ the King)was the top finisher, finishing in 24th overall of 88 runners (31:01) over the six kilometer course, while Crystal Ferguson (Brooklyn, NY, Greater New York Academy)was 26th overall and second for John Jay (31:04).

Julia Gilgurd (Riga, Lativa, New Dorp) was the third John Jay runner to finish the race and was 27th overall (31:09). Anastasia Leshchinskaya (Redding, CT, Joel Barlow) finished 37th in the race and was fourth for the Bloodhounds (32:28).

Baljit Kahlon (Queens Village, NY, Bryant)rounded out the top five for John Jay with a 41st place finish (32:47).

Jessica Toro (Manhasset, NY, Manhasset) was sixth for John Jay and 52nd overall (34:10), and Jessica Padilla (Corona, NY, North Bergen)was 78th overall (42:37).
