Women's Tennis Earns Win, Defeats CCNY 6-3

Roosevelt Island, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s tennis team picked up its second consecutive conference win as well as their second overall as the Bloodhounds defeated the City College of New York (CCNY) 6-3 on Roosevelt Island.

The Bloodhounds entered competition leading 2-0 and won at No. 2 singles, No. 4 singles, No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles. Wilesca Belhomme (Brooklyn, NY, Tilden)gave John Jay point number five to secure the win. Playing No. 4 singles, she lost the first set 6-0, before coming back to win the second set 6-4 before winning the tiebreaker.

Cynthia Molina (Bronx, NY, Aquinas)picked up her first win of the season, winning at No. 5 singles and Jessica Rodriguez (Brooklyn, NY, Fashion) won at No. 6 singles to improve her overall record to 6-7 this season.

John Jay returns to action on Wed. Oct. 7 for a match against St. Joseph’s-Patchogue at the Suffolk Community College Tennis Complex.
