New York, N.Y.— The John Jay College of Criminal Justice Department of Health and Physical Education, behind the enthusiastic spirit of Dr.
Jane Katz, celebrated this past Halloween in a fun and enjoyable way as Dr. Katz invited the City University of New York community to the John Jay Pool for a party to celebrate Halloween on Mon. Nov. 2.
More than 100 members of the CUNY and John Jay college community, including faculty, staff and students came poolside for an afternoon of swimming, water games and socialization. Guests from other institutions included Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) and Brooklyn College.
Food was served at the party, which began at 3 p.m. and lasted until 5 p.m. Food items in the menu included coffee, cookies, fruit and candy corn.
“The party was great. Lots of fun and a great turnout,” said Dr. Katz. “Many people came by and said 'hi' and had some food and enjoyed the event.”
Dr. Katz has been affiliated with the City University of New York system for 50 years. She started out as an undergraduate student in 1959 at the City College of New York (CCNY) and began teaching at Bronx Community College (BCC) in 1964. After 25 years at BCC she helped establish the aquatics program at John Jay in 1989 where she remains to this day.
