New York, N.Y.— The John Jay College of Criminal Justice picked up wins in eight events and led from start to finish as the Bloodhounds defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent (CMSV) 61-34 at the John Jay Pool on Wednesday evening to improve to 5-5 on the season.
The Bloodhounds took the lead from the opening sound as the team of
Nathalie Cuellar (New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle),
Rose Edelman (Garden City, NY, Garden City),
Justyna Maksimiuk (Sunnyside, NY, Brooklyn Tech)and
Kaili Insalaco (Palm Coast, FL, Flagler Palm Coast) teamed to victory in the 200 yard medley relay (2:12.14) to take a 7-0 lead.
In the second event of the evening, the 1000 yard freestyle, the Bloodhounds combined to finish first and second as Insalaco finished first (14:01.98), with Cuellar right behind (14:37.54) and John Jay led 15-1 after two events.
After CMSV picked up a win in the 200 yard freestyle, the Bloodhounds then proceeded to win the next four events and as Maksimuk scored a win in the 50 yard freestyle (28.44) before
Johanna McLaughlin (New York, NY, Beacon School) won the 200 yard individual medley (2:52.49). Cuellar was a winner in the 100 yard butterfly (1:20.69) before Maksimiuk picked up another win in the 100 yard freestyle (1:04.83).
Insalaco then picked up a win in the 500 yard freestyle before Edelman took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke.
