Women's Basketball Drops Conference Game at Baruch

New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s basketball team was defeated on the road Wednesday evening as the Bloodhounds lost at Baruch College 81-35 at the ARC Arena.

John Jay, now 0-19 (0-9 CUNYAC), was led by Dominique Grice (North Babylon, NY, North Babylon) with 13 points, while Chantelle Smith (Flushing, NY, Mary Louis Academy) had nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

The host Bearcats shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half on 21-for-35 shooting and established a 52-14 lead at halftime.

With the score tied at 2-2, Baruch used a 14-0 run to take a 16-2 lead and the Bearcats never led by less than double figures the rest of the way.

In the second half, John Jay never got to within less than 39 points of the lead. Baruch led by as much as 47 in the contest.

Baruch was led by Megan Bouwens with 16 points.

The Bearcats outscored John Jay 40-16 on points in the paint and 32-7 on points off the bench.

John Jay returns to action on Mon. Feb. 1 at New Jersey City University at 6 p.m.
