Women's Swimming Falls in 2009-10 Regular Season Finale

Patchogue, N.Y.— The John Jay women’s swimming team closed out its 2009-10 regular season schedule with a non-conference loss on the road as the Bloodhounds were defeated by St. Joseph’s-Long Island 108-90.

Freshman sensation Justyna Maksimiuk (Sunnyside, NY, Brooklyn Tech) earned a pair of wins, taking first place in the 50 yard freestyle (28.16) and 500 yard freestyle (6:46.08).

The Bloodhounds also scored seven second place finishes in individual events as Nathalie Cuellar (New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle) was second in the 1,000 yard freestyle (14:02.86), 100 yard butterfly (1:18.19) and 100 yard backstroke (1:18.57).

Kaili Insalaco (Palm Coast, FL, Flagler Palm Coast) was second behind Maksimiuk in the 50 yard freestyle (29.38). Johanna McLaughlin (New York, NY, Beacon School) was runner up in the 200 yard individual medley (2:51.65). while Rose Edelman (Garden City, NY, Garden City) came in second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:21.86). Billie Jean Kuppler (Long Island City, NY, Long Island City) was second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:46.50).

John Jay is back in action for the 2010 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) women’s swimming & diving championships at Lehman College from Feb. 4-6.
