New York, N.Y.— John Jay College of Criminal Justice Department of Athletics, Recreation and Intramurals has announced that Andy McLeavey has been named head coach of the women's volleyball team and men's volleyball team.

Though a first year head coach, McLeavey is no stranger to either programs as he served as assistant coach to the women's program the past two seasons as well as the men who just finished its inaugural campaign this past spring.

McLeavey is a 2003 graduate of the University of Richmond where he was a member of the school's club volleyball program.

A native of Kingston, Rhode Island, he is a 1999 graduate of South Kingston High School where he was a member of its boys' volleyball team which went to the state championship in 1998.

In addition to being a coach, McLeavy is a competitive volleyball player. He competes in the New York Urban Professional League and was a member of a team that competed in the United States Volleyball Association (USVA) in Salt Lake City, Utah this past summer.

The John Jay women's season is scheduled to get underway this Friday with a match at Manhattanville College at 7 p.m. The men's season is tentatively scheduled to get underway in early February 2013.
